wtf happened to the comics???

Admittedly, I don't read the comics with any regularity. But whenever I do, I see nothing but 'Far Side' wannabes and countless family type comics with nothing but esoteric jokes about how babies are apt to eat shit paper and things like that. What the fuck happened to the good shit? Seriously, is a fag and his cat the best thing out there anymore?
